The main store in Myeongdong, which opened in 1980, is the global number one duty-free store that produces the largest sales worldwide.

With the Main Store which is taking the lead, there are two other locations in Seoul, named the World-Tower Store and COEX Store. There are total of eight locations throughout Korea.

Guam Airport Store

Guam Airport Store, located at the departure hall of Guam International Airport, is open to travelers 24/7 year-round.
With over 200 brands including luxury fashion brands, Guam Airport Store has become an essential part of Guam tourism.

Japan

Tokyo Ginza Store

Tokyo Ginza Store is the largest downtown duty-free store in Tokyo.

Aside from the Tokyo Ginza Store, there are also luxury boutiques at LOTTE DUTY FREE Kansai Airport Store.

Hanoi Airport Store

Hanoi Airport Store, located in the capital of Vietnam, offers 60 popular brands.

1979 - 1983

KOREA'S FIRST
DUTY-FREE BRAND
LOTTE DUTY FREE opened Korea’s first general duty-free store. The domestic goods section was opened in January 1980 and the imported goods section in February. The arrival of LOTTE DUTY FREE changed the course of industry history with its luxury categories and boutiques.

1984 - 1994

GROWING INTO KOREA’S
PREMIER LUXURY DUTY-FREE STORE
Bringing in the top brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Chanel, LOTTE DUTY FREE has grown to be the top duty-free brand in Korea. LOTTE DUTY FREE has been contributing to the Korean tourism by supplying global top brands at reasonable prices and drawing foreign tourists.

1995 - 2003

LOTTE DUTY FREE,
AT THE CENTER OF THE DUTY-FREE INDUSTRY
In 1998, Gimpo International Airport became LOTTE DUTY FREE’s first Airport Store. Based on this experience, LOTTE DUTY FREE hit huge success in Incheon International Airport as a cosmetics store with the world’s highest sales performance.

2004 - 2011

K-WAVE MARKETING AND REINVENTING
OPERATION METHODS
With the Korean Wave marketing in 2004, LOTTE DUTY FREE incorporated shopping, tourism, and culture to the Korean market. LOTTE DUTY FREE also attracted the global customers by holding events like Family Concert and creating Korean Wave contents. By forming a distribution-focused IT system and building Korea’s largest integrated distribution center, LOTTE DUTY FREE renovated the distribution and operation system and led the changes in the industry. The one-packing system that LOTTE DUTY FREE created has now become a standard process throughout the industry.

2012 ~ 2020

LOTTE DUTY FREE is the top duty-free store in the Korean market. Yet, it did not just maintain its position but laid the foundation for stable growth by entering the global market. Through our branches in Japan, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, as well as in Guam in the United States, we are building an LDF belt that links Asia-Pacific, thus successfully pioneering the global market.

In the 1980s, items made by ceramic masters sold at a high price — the equivalent to a month’s salary of an average white-collar worker in Korea. Nevertheless, they were so popular that customers often had to wait in line.

In 1988, Olympic fever engulfed Korea as the nation hosted the global sports festival.
In addition to ginseng, amethyst, leather apparel, bags, and ceramics, Olympic souvenirs topped the list of products sold at LOTTE DUTY FREE Department Store, the official name of LOTTE DUTY FREE at the time. Everyone who visited Seoul had a Hodori, the Olympic mascot, in their suitcase.
