Lotte Duty Free Shop holds a road show for the launching of a new music video with the main stars of the Korean Wave
Eight Korean wave teams and 25 model stars participated in the production of the video for a Korean Wave cultural campaign
The largest musical video ever—with all the stars of the Korean Wave
The Lotte Duty Free Shop showcased a newly produced music video on August 30 in Tokyo in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Korean Wave cultural campaign. It also held a road show by inviting major travel agencies.
The shop is disclosing the music video in Japan for the first time in the world for both Korea and Japan to perform a cultural exchange and for these two countries to bond further. The video had the participation of eight Korean Wave stars, including Choshinsung, Jang Keun-suk, Kim Hyun-joong, and Song Seung-heon, creating a buzz. In the video, the stars sing the new brand song of Lotte Duty Free, “You’re so Beautiful,” in Japanese.
The song is not just to make the corporate brand of Lotte widely known; it also aims to introduce the Korean Wave to the world. It was produced last 2009 and it provides an experience wherein you can see and hear all Korean Wave stars and their songs at one time. It is not only extremely popular in Japan, it is also widespread in China and Southeast Asia, among others.
The video with eight Korean Wave stars, including Choshinsung, Jang Keun-suk, Kim Hyun-joong, and Seung-heon, participating, starts with a “Monopoly” game, which people usually play and enjoy when they were young, under the concept of the “Trip of Your Dream Starts at Lotte Duty Free Shop.” The models ride airplanes, submarines, and cruises to visit all globally famous tourist sites while singing the new brand song.
In the video, idol groups, such as 2PM, Super Junior, and Choshingsung, sang, rapped, and showcased elegant and dynamic group dances. It is also interesting to watch and compare how Kim Hyung-joong and Choi Ji-woo, as well as Song Seung-heon and Lin Chi Ling, appear and sing as couples in love. The scenes of Choi Ji-woo and Song Seung-heon Song singing are unique in the Lotte Duty Free Shop music video.
Most of the video has CG, requiring very detailed work, and the whole video contains a full song that lasts for 4 minutes and 40 seconds. The video amounts to 15 times longer than ordinary advertisements and has over 150 people participating to the point that over KRW 1 billion was spent for its production and even took half a year to complete.
